Publicity Stunt: The Art of Noise...

Jonathan Hay: Let's talk about it. (Smiling)

It's been said that you are going to expose. Are you worried about a counterattack from the industry, or people within the industry getting upset -- potential clients even?

Jonathan Hay: No. I am going to be very transparent about everything that I have been involved in - the good and the bad -- but my plan is not to destroy reputations or vindicate myself, but rather to reveal the true art behind crafting a successful publicity stunt...the art of noise. I will use wisdom and integrity, but I'm sure I will gain enemies along the way. That's a given.

You are credited for breaking Rihanna out into the media. Can you please go into detail about that?

Jonathan Hay: Yes. I met Vada Nobles [the producer of Rihanna's first single, "Pon De Replay"] at a Starbucks in Orlando, Florida. I'll never forget that day. Vada told me about this young artist named Rihanna who looked similar to Beyonce and he'd just finished her first single, called "Pon De Replay." We went back to his home studio where he was working on finishing up the remix for it with Elephant Man. Honestly, the first time I heard the song I didn't think it was going to work at all because Will Smith had a song out ["Switch"] at that time with almost that exact same beat. But I was intrigued by the project, nevertheless. At first, nobody seemed to really feel the song, so I started a publicity campaign, single-handedly. The whole idea behind the campaign was to get Vada Nobles out there as a producer so that ultimately people would forget about his past lawsuit and conflict with Lauryn Hill on her album The Miseducation Of Lauyrn Hill.

Jonathan Hay: Anyway, I sent the song to Jennifer Vineyard, my contact at MTV. She did me a favor and broke the story on Rihanna, "Pon De Replay" and Vada Nobles. Along with one of my partners, I then began to fabricate stories of Rihanna and Jay-Z, leaking false rumors to tabloids, working internet message boards, etc. We started to get an insane amount of media coverage very fast. There are so many things we did that people don't even know about, not even Rihanna herself. She was completely unknown and I was paid by Vada Nobles to generate publicity. The mega Island Def Jam deal rumor, we fluffed and fabricated. Rihanna and Vada had no idea what I was doing behind the scenes, but my whole agenda was to get media for the song.

Jonathan Hay: If you check out Rihanna's Wikipedia Page for "Pon De Replay." you'll see that it was on March 17, 2005 [through MTV News] that I helped break Rihanna out into the world. There was a lot more involved but I want to save that detailed interesting chapter for the book.

What do you mean by starting Rihanna rumors?

Jonathan Hay: I mean leaking out sensational stories and spreading them around in the news -- to tabloids such as the National Enquirer, music and gossip sites and whatnot. Like when the rumor surfaced that Jay-Z had a new love life and was cheating on Beyonce...that was just to get attention. Rihanna had nothing to do with ANY of that, nor did she know what we were doing. I was just trying to break the single and stay employed by Vada Nobles. Even Vada didn't know half the stuff I was doing. I kept my strategy a secret at the time because, honestly, everyone would have been against it, the tactics that I used. But I was only thinking about the end result - and look what happened...gossip sells.

So you started that Jay-Z, Rihanna and Beyonce rumor?

Jonathan Hay: I feel awful but, yes, I leaked some of those stories. Looking back, I am ashamed of that; there was zero integrity in that maneuver. But this is entertainment and I wanted to obtain publicity - so I came up with some crazy stories and it worked. Rihanna is one of the biggest stars in the world now, and look at how she stormed into the business! Not to take anything from her - she is a great artist - but every artist needs a launching pad and there is nothing better than a good scandal to get the public's attention. (Laughing)

You began talking to Jay-Z from your association with Amil [from Roc-A-Fella Records]...

Jonathan Hay: I already had his contact info, but once I started working with Amil it gave me a reason to contact him...

Have you talked to Jay-Z since the Rihanna rumors?

Jonathan Hay: Jay-Z and I had a dramatic-instant involving another artist. That is just water under the bridge now, but it's definitely going in the book. I still talk to Jay-Z every now and then -- I probably nag him (laughing) but he always hits me back. Trust me, my Jay-Z chapter is really an eye-opener. He is the greatest businessman in the history of hip-hop. Jay-Z has succeeded in every business possibility, all across the board. I plan on hopefully sitting down with Jay-Z very soon for some lucrative business opportunities.

LOS ANGELES — Brooke Hogan always seems to have a guy lurking around, but it turns out that Hulk Hogan 's daughter isn't getting a whole lot of action.

The "Brooke Knows Best" babe was overheard complaining about her love life — or lack thereof — last Monday night when she hosted an anniversary celebration at Bowlmor Lanes' southern outpost, STRIKE Miami.

"What love life? I'm not gay but I might as well be," she said, according to our source. "I'm the [woman] of the group," she said, referring to her reality TV roommates. "We live a gay lifestyle."

But while Hogan has been very open about the fact that she isn’t particularly interested in politics or current events, we were still a little surprised that the 20-year-old has absolutely no desire to keep up with news of any kind.

“I never read tabloids, I never buy books or go on Perez Hilton and I never ever watch the news,” Brooke recently told Pop Tarts. “All news is bad. You never hear them say, 'This dog gave birth to six puppies today.' It’s always negative, like, 'All these people got killed.' I stay totally away from it.”

Good news for the reality television family is that Brooke's brother, 18-year-old Nick Hogan (who was sent to jail earlier this year following a car accident that left his friend in a vegetative state) will get out of jail three months early and be a free man on Oct. 21.

1. How they survived!?

How did Travis Barker and DJ AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) survive the plane crash that killed four people and left them with second- and third-degree burns?

"[Travis and Adam] told me that they slid down the wing on the right side of the plane," Lieut. Josh Shumpert of the South Congaree Police Department tells PEOPLE. Shumpert was one of the second responders at the scene – Congaree is the town outside of Columbia, S.C. – after the airport police arrived.

"They said they were on fire," adds Shumpert, whose patrol car's dashboard camera caught video of the fiery aftermath, "and that they tackled each other and put each other out."

"When I got there they were on the side of the road," says Shumpert. "They were pacing and in shock."

"Travis was very shaken up," he says, noting that Barker was given Gatorade after he asked for some water.

According to the lieutenant, the pair weren't naked, contrary to eyewitness statements.

"Travis was wearing some kind of shorts and no shirt," says Shumpert, adding that Goldstein was wearing shorts or boxers as well. "Travis had one sock on. And a black hat on his head."


Quick Thinking
The fast reactions of the former Blink 182 drummer Barker, 32, and Goldstein, 35, gave them a good chance of a full recovery.

"Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn't suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected," said Dr. Fred Mullins of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors' Hospital in Augusta at a Sunday morning press conference.

Mullins added that recovery from such burns can take as long as a year.

2. Who is by their side and who broke down?!

Shanna Moakler Rushes to Travis Barker's Side

Travis Barker's former mother-in-law, Gail Moakler, tells PEOPLE, "We're totally crushed," but that Shanna Moakler has rushed to be with her ex, while DJ AM's sister, Lara, and her husband, Benjamin Long, learned the news of the plane crash – in which Barker and DJ AM were badly burned and four others were killed – from a phone call from AM's mother on Saturday morning.

"We're in shock," Benjamin Long told PEOPLE. "Nobody expects something like this. We're waiting to hear more."

Moakler, whose daughter Shanna was married to Barker, tells PEOPLE, "Our heart pours out. We're hoping he recovers. The family is rallying around him and saying our prayers."

Both Barker, 32, and DJ AM (real name: Adam Michael Goldstein), 35, were taken to a burn center in Augusta, Georgia, about 75 miles southwest of the Columbia, S.C., crash site. Both are listed in critical condition.

Four others on the plane were killed: pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, Calif.; security guard Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles; and Barker's assistant Chris Baker, 29, also of Los Angeles.


Children Not Told
Upon hearing the news of the crash, "Shanna flew out this morning, and I am going to L.A. to be with the children so that she can devote time to Travis," Gail Moakler tells PEOPLE.

Former Playboy Playmate Shanna Moakler, 33, was married to Barker from 2004 until earlier this year. They have two children: son Landon, 4, and daughter Alabama, 2.

"There's still love between them," says Gail Moakler. "They may be divorced, but they're still very close. She spends a lot of time with him. Their priorities are their kids."

The youngsters have yet to be told about the incident. "We're waiting a bit to see what God brings," says their grandmother, who adds, "Shanna spoke to Travis last night. He was defiant after the accident and didn't want to be lifted in a helicopter, but rather an ambulance, so they had to knock him out."

DJ AM is a Survivor

The whole thing is crazy," said Benjamin Long. "We're thankful that he made it. And we feel horrible about those who didn't. It's just awful."

He added that his bother-in-law is a survivor. "He flies all the time," says Long. "A lot of people know his story. He's pulled through a lot of things in the past."

The Learjet carrying six people that crashed after midnight Friday was just over one year old and chartered from Global Executive Aviation in Long Beach, Calif., according to Columbia Metropolitan Airport spokesperson Lynne Douglas,

"The crash was the result of an overrun on its flight to Van Nuys [Calif.]," says Douglas, who attended a National Transportation Safety Board press conference Saturday afternoon in Columbia. "The NTSB is gathering information and fact finding to learn what happened in this tragedy."

A statement was also issued by the Pure Management Group's vice-president of entertainment, Michael Greco. It said, "Our thoughts and prayers go out to both Adam and Travis. The PMG family is deeply saddened by the news of this unfortunate event and we wish Adam and Travis a speedy recovery and send our sincere condolences to the families who lost loved ones."

Kanye to Puppet?

Reports are out that Kanye turned in a Pilot for a New puppet show to hit your small screen in 2009:

Comedy Central has teamed with Kanye West for a project described as hip-hop meets the Muppets.

A half-hour pilot has been shot for the project, tentatively titled "Alligator Boots." It's from Jackhole Prods., the production company founded by Jimmy Kimmel, Daniel Kellison and Adam Carolla that also was behind Comedy Central's puppet-centric "Crank Yankers."

The project, which is under consideration for 2009, would feature music produced and performed by West and fellow rapper Rhymefest, both of whom are serving as executive producers on the pilot alongside Kellison. West also hosts the pilot; the idea is to have a different celebrity guest host for every episode, similar to the setup on the original "Muppet Show."

Kimmel's brother Jon ("South Park") is co-exec producer on the pilot.

WMA brokered the deal for West, who was in attendance at Comedy Central's Emmy party at STK on Sunday; Matthew Middleton and Darrell Miller brokered the deal for Rhymefest.

T.I. Speaks about his Child Support/Baby momma drama

Lashon Dixon, the mother of T.I.'s two sons Domani and Messiah, has taken legal action against the rap mogul claiming that he only provides $2,000 a month in child support and that she has a difficult time supporting the boys on this contribution.

In response to the matter, T.I. released the following detailed statement exclusively to StreetCred.com:

"A lot of deceiving information has been reported regarding my recent child support proceeding. It is unfortunate that the media has been used to manipulate the circumstances and distort the facts. Those that know me, all know that there is nothing more important to me than my children. I have always supported all of my children financially, emotionally, and spiritually. This has always been the case and I will continue to do so in the future as this is my responsibility as a parent.

To clarify the recent reports, in addition to the $2000 per month I pay in cash to Lashon Dixon, the mother of my sons Domani and Messiah, I also pay for their private schooling, medical insurance, clothing, food, gifts, birthdays and extracurricular activities. Their extra-curricular activities have included football, basketball, baseball, acting lessons, summer camp, and any other activities that they express a desire to be involved in that will contribute to them leading balanced lives and developing into well rounded individuals. I have also made an attempt to help Lashon with additional payments that have included a down payment to purchase her home, purchase of an automobile for her transportation and other financial obligations. These expenses are documented and are far in excess of the $2000 cash payment that is being paid direct to Lashon. She has chosen not to work and to live 100% from her child support receipts. This is the reason for her difficulties in making ends meet for herself.

The day is coming to an end, and this problem is still not resolved. This song speaks from a stand point of understanding that in a relationship, arguments are going to happen. I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin.

I couldn't be more supportive of a woman in office, but let's face it, it comes down to the person, and their beliefs, male or female.

Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock?

I find it quite interesting that a woman who now is running to be second in command of the United States, only 4 years ago had aspirations to be a television anchor. Which is probably all she is qualified to be... Also interesting that she got her passport in 2006.. And that she is not fond of environmental protection considering she's FOR drilling for oil in some of our protected land.... Well hey, if she wants to drill for oil, she should DO IT IN HER OWN backyard. This really shows me her complete lack of real preparation to become the second most powerful person in this country.

Hmmmm-All of this gets me going-Fear, Anxiety, Concern, Disappointment, and Stress come into play...

Is our country so divided that the Republicans best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?

I know that the most important thing about this election is that people need to exercise their right to vote, regardless of their choice... I would have liked to have remained impartial, however I am afraid that the "lipstick on a pig" comments will overshadow the issues and the fact that I believe Barack Obama is the best choice, in this election, for president...

Palin's Desire to "save and convert the gays"-really??

According to this Associated Press story, the church of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is hosting a kind of conference devoted to the "conversion of Gays" -- no kidding.

Palin's conservative Christian views have energized that part of the GOP electorate, which was lukewarm to John McCain's candidacy before he named her as his vice presidential choice. I feel it's necessary for me to clarify that I am not against Sarah Palin as a mother or woman.

Women have come a long way in the fight to have the choice over what we do with our bodies... And its frightening to see that a woman in 2008 would negate all of that.

Ladies and gents, how are you?? Hopefully fly and content as humanly possible. I'm very proud of this album, so very much in fact that I really REALLY don't want anyone to miss anything, or let any meanings go over their heads so, for the next 10 days before the album drops, I'm going to break down the meaning behind the other 10 songs on the record, of course excluding what you've already heard, "closer" and "Ms. Independent". I feel that this'll help you all get a better understanding of what the songs are, why I wrote them the way I did, the inspirations behind them, while at the same time letting you a lil' further into the mind of yours truly.

This is a song about fantasy helping to ease reality. Picture this ladies. You n' your man get into a massive fight. You decide to head out to clear your mind of the drama. This is the song that comes on in the club and helps wash away all that stress on your mind. "I'll be your boyfriend til' the song goes off....." Meaning anything he don't do for you, imma do for you, but you better indulge while you can, cause I'm here for you..........but only until the song is over.

I wrote this song for two reasons. One, to show ladies that ain't nothin' wrong wit "a lil fantasy" , and two, to show fellas what could be goin' on wit YOUR girl, after you stress her to the point where she gotta go out on her own!! Might wanna settle that lil' difference before she takes off, she might come back comparing you to me!!
